TEST KNITTING
Purl Foundry patterns all go through a process of tech editing and testing before they’re released.
A Tech Editor runs some technical checks on a pattern and test knitters knit the pattern before release and provide feedback along the way. They help catch any missed errors, suggest edits and ensure the grading works well across different sizes and body shapes.
Test knitters come with all sorts of knitting experience levels, so you definitely don’t need to be an expert. The main things I ask are that you communicate throughout the test knit, finish by the deadline and send photos of your finished garment on a real body.
Purl Foundry test knits are currently run through Yarn Pond and, depending on the pattern, you’ll usually have up to 8 weeks to complete your garment.
If you’d like to hear about future test knitting opportunities, you can sign up to the newsletter below. When a new test is about to start, I'll email you with sneak peek photos and a YarnPond link where you can apply to be a tester. I’m not able to accept everyone for every test knit, but if you do miss out on one round, please feel free to apply for another test knit next time.
Thanks!
