Your privacy is important to us. It is Purl Foundry's policy to respect your privacy regarding any information we may collect from you across our website, http://purlfoundry.com, and other sites we own and operate.

Please note: Our website may link to external sites that are not operated by us (eg sometimes we link to a yarn supplier or YouTube video tutorial). Please be aware that we have no control over the content and practices of these sites, and cannot accept responsibility or liability for their respective privacy policies.

 

INFORMATION WE COLLECT

When you visit the Site, we automatically collect certain information about your device, including information about your web browser, IP address, time zone, and some of the cookies that are installed on your device. Additionally, as you browse the Site, we collect information about the individual web pages or products that you view, what websites or search terms referred you to the Site, and information about how you interact with the Site so that we can continue to improve our site and services for customers. We refer to this automatically-collected information as “Device Information.”

We collect Device Information using the following technologies:

    - “Cookies” are data files that are placed on your device or computer and often include an anonymous unique identifier.     - “Web beacons,” “tags,” and “pixels” are electronic files used to record information about how you browse the Site or respond to email newsletters. This helps us improve our content and communication with you.

Additionally when you make a purchase or attempt to make a purchase through the Site, we collect certain information from you, including your name, billing address, shipping address and your email address. We refer payment information to third party services for processing and we don't store your credit card or PayPal details. Credit card transactions are via Stripe or PayPal and you can view the privacy policies for each of these providers through their own websites. We refer to all of this information as “Order Information.”

When we talk about “Personal Information” in this Privacy Policy, we are talking both about Device Information and Order Information.

HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

We use the Order Information that we collect generally to fulfill any orders placed through the Site (including processing your payment information, arranging for shipping/emailing your order, and providing you with invoices and/or order confirmations).  Additionally, we use this Order Information to:

  • Communicate with you
  • Screen our orders for potential risk or fraud
  • When in line with the preferences you have shared with us, provide you with information or advertising relating to our products or services. This includes sending emails if you have subscribed to our newsletter list. You can unsubscribe from those emails anytime via a link at the bottom of each email, or you can request removal from the list by emailing us at hello@purlfoundry.com.
  • We use the Device Information that we collect to help us screen for potential risk and fraud (in particular, your IP address), and more generally to improve and optimize our Site (for example, by generating analytics about how our customers browse and interact with the Site, and to assess the success of our marketing and advertising campaigns).

SHARING OF INFORMATION

We share your Personal Information with third parties to help us use your Personal Information as described above.  For example, we use Airsquare to power our online store (you can read more about how Airsquare uses your Personal Information here:  https://www.airsquare.com/privacy-policy.cfm).  We also use Google Analytics to help us understand how our customers use the Site (you can read more about how Google uses your Personal Information here:  https://www.google.com/intl/en/policies/privacy/).  You can also opt-out of Google Analytics here:  https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

Finally, we may also share your Personal Information to comply with applicable laws and regulations, to respond to a subpoena, search warrant or other lawful request for information we receive, or to otherwise protect our rights.

 

WHERE YOUR INFORMATION IS STORED AND HOW IT'S PROTECTED

Purlfoundry.com is hosted by Airsquare.com and your information is securely stored through their services. Please refer to the Airsquare privacy policy for more details.

When you place an order through the Site, we will maintain your Order Information for our records unless and until you ask us to delete this information.

 

RETURNS / REFUNDS

Unfortunately I can't offer you a refund if you simply change your mind about a purchase. But, if you purchase a physical item from me and it arrives damaged or it breaks within 12 months of purchase, I'll replace it for free or organise a refund. Please just email me at hello@purlfoundry.com with a photo of the damaged item and some information about how it happened. From there, I'll respond to you as quickly as possible and together, we'll get it sorted.

Digital items are non-refundable, but your satisfaction is important to me and if you're not happy or find errors in your pattern (digital or printed), please let me know via email at hello@purlfoundry.com. I'll work to make amends wherever possible.

I will not be held liable for any loss of materials, yarn or resources while using my patterns and tools.
 

YOUR RIGHTS
You have the right to access personal information we hold about you and to ask that your personal information be corrected, updated, or deleted. If you would like to exercise this right, please contact us via email at hello@purlfoundry.com.

You are free to refuse our request for your personal information, with the understanding that we may be unable to provide you with some of your desired services.

Additionally, if you are a European resident we note that we are processing your information in order to fulfill contracts we might have with you (for example if you make an order through the Site), or otherwise to pursue our legitimate business interests listed above.  Additionally, please note that your information will be transferred outside of Europe, including to Canada and the United States.

We additionally reserve the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason at any time.

 

COPYRIGHT

By purchasing our patterns or services, you agree not to reproduce, duplicate, copy, sell, resell or exploit any portion of the Service, use of the Service, or access to the Service or any contact on the website through which the service is provided, without express written permission by us.

 

CHANGES
We may update this privacy policy from time to time in order to reflect, for example, changes to our practices or for other operational, legal or regulatory reasons.

Another change you might occasionally see is the pricing of the patterns. We're based in New Zealand and, on a global scale, NZ dollars aren't real common so we wanted to bring you pricing options in your own currency. To achieve this, we've set the NZ price and then run it through the current exchange rates to reflect that value in your country. Of course, economies fluctuate and every few months we need to assess exchange rates to make sure that these currency options are still reflecting the NZ dollar value we first based the prices on. Sometimes the pattern price will rise a little and sometimes it'll drop, but we do try to absorb most fluctuations and only make changes where the difference is substantial. I apologise for this, but unfortunately it's the nature of the beast.
