This pattern is a loving collaboration between Korean knitwear designer, Ms. Jiny Jang and her Mother-in-law, Mrs. Park Hong Ja (pictured in the last photo). They share a beautiful story of respect, honour and love, which they've woven together into this pattern. It truly warms my heart to bring this English translation to you and to share their story with you.

"It was very touching to me that my mother-in-law’s bright talent and knowledge in knitting has conveyed her twinkling love to her family through her knitting, hence the pattern name. It’s been an absolute honour to work with her on this written pattern and through Pelongpelong, I hope to forever store her love in memory. Likewise, may your love for others also be stored in every stitch of this dress" - Ms Jiny Jang

The Pelongpelong dress (which means “Twinkle twinkle” in the Jeju Islander’s dialect) is knit in the round using a leaf lace pattern from the hem to waist. While knitting the skirt, three different size needles are used to reduce skirt circumference, and this gives you a slightly inclined cute A-line shape. From the armhole, the work is separated into front and back pieces and using a stylish Stripe pattern panel on the Front piece. Set-in sleeves are knitted from the shoulder by picking up stitches around the armhole while knitting every round. Little puff sleeves featuring picot edge design add an adorable accent to your kid’s summer dress.

Suitable for Confident level knitters. Techniques include knit, purl, cast on, bind off, pick up and knit, knitting both in the round and flat, cables, seaming and short rows.
