This pattern is a loving collaboration between Korean knitwear designer, Ms. Jiny Jang and her Mother-in-law, Mrs. Park Hong Ja (pictured in the last photo). They share a beautiful story of respect, honour and love, which they've woven together into this pattern. The Pelongpelong dress (which means “Twinkle twinkle” in the Jeju Islander’s dialect) is knit in the round using a leaf lace pattern from the hem to waist. While knitting the skirt, three different size needles are used to reduce skirt circumference, and this gives you a slightly inclined cute A-line shape. From the armhole, the work is separated into front and back pieces and using a stylish Stripe pattern panel on the Front piece. Set-in sleeves are knitted from the shoulder by picking up stitches around the armhole while knitting every round. Little puff sleeves featuring picot edge design add an adorable accent to your kid’s summer dress.

Suitable for Confident level knitters. Techniques include knit, purl, cast on, bind off, pick up and knit, knitting both in the round and flat, cables, seaming and short rows.

We recommend cotton and linen blended yarn in 4ply / fingering weight as a perfect choice to showcase the attractive lace pattern neatly and meaning the dress can be worn daily during the summer season with no worries.

Size (year): 12~18M (2, 4) (6, 8, 10)

Waist Circumference: cm = 54 (56, 60) (64, 68, 72) / inches = 21.25 (22, 23.5) (25.25, 26.75, 28.25)

Dress Length: cm = 41 (46, 52) (57, 63, 68) / inches = 16 (18, 20.5) (22.5, 24.75, 26.75)

Yarn Quantity: Metres = 600, (600, 750), (900, 1,050, 1,200) / yards = 640, (640, 800), (960, 1,120, 1,280) of 4 ply / Fingering weight yarn.

Needles:

• 4mm, 3.5mm, 3.0mm and 2.5mm circular needles (60cm or longer ones).
• 2.5mm and 3.0mm double-pointed needles, plus stitch markers.

Gauge: 29 sts x 40 rows in a 10cm (4”) stockinette stitch square using 3.0mm needles. Note: If you need to adjust this needle size to get gauge, then you may need to adjust all the needle sizes in the same way throughout the pattern.

For our sample used: Natural Garden Fuchsia (50g / 160yds / 150m) by Ice Yarns. 3.5, (4, 5), (6, 7, 8) balls.
